Office of the Government of the Republic of Croatia
for Promoting Investment from the Business Diaspora

Croatia has a strong global business community within its diaspora.

Across Europe, the Americas and other parts of the world, thousands of Croatian entrepreneurs, managers and professionals are successfully established in developed economies. They possess knowledge, capital, international business experience and extensive networks built over decades. Many of them wish to maintain an active connection with their homeland and contribute to its economic development.

In practice, however, it is often evident that a clear and reliable framework for such cooperation is lacking. Information is fragmented, projects are often insufficiently visible, and communication between investors, institutions and local communities is not systematically organised. As a result, a significant portion of the potential of the Croatian business diaspora remains underutilised.

For this reason, there is a clear need to establish an Office of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Promoting Investment from the Business Diaspora, as a professional platform that would connect the global Croatian business community with concrete development projects in Croatia.
Such an office could become a strong institutional bridge between Croatia and its global business diaspora.
Why an Office for the Business Diaspora is Needed

Without a clear institutional framework, the potential of the business diaspora often remains insufficiently utilised. Although successful Croatian entrepreneurs and professionals operate worldwide, cooperation with the homeland frequently depends on individual initiatives and personal contacts.

Many countries that have successfully integrated their diaspora into economic development have done so through well-defined institutions and professional platforms for cooperation.

The Office for the Business Diaspora would serve precisely this role. Its task would be to connect the global Croatian business community with concrete development projects in Croatia and to facilitate the process of investment and cooperation.
How the Office for the Business Diaspora Could Operate in Practice

The Office for the Business Diaspora would function as a professional platform connecting the Croatian business diaspora with concrete development projects in Croatia. Its role would include gathering information on investment opportunities, identifying projects ready for investment and facilitating communication between investors, entrepreneurs and institutions.

Through such an approach, a reliable framework for cooperation would be created, enabling ideas to be transformed into concrete projects and interest into actual investments.

At the same time, a network of cooperation would be developed, creating long-term connections between the Croatian business diaspora, domestic entrepreneurs and development projects in Croatia.
Long-Term Objective of This Approach

The objective of this initiative is not only to attract capital, but to establish a lasting relationship between Croatia and its global business diaspora.

When the knowledge, experience and capital of the business diaspora are connected with development projects in Croatia, conditions are created for new investments, industrial development and the creation of stable jobs.

It is precisely stable jobs that form the foundation for long-term economic development and the gradual return of people to Croatia.

This development model is based on the real economy, production and long-term investment.
What This Approach Brings to Croatia

The inclusion of the business diaspora in Croatia’s economic development opens new opportunities for investment, knowledge transfer and the creation of long-term development partnerships. Through a clear institutional framework, more efficient communication between investors, entrepreneurs and public institutions is enabled.

Such an approach helps transform the potential of the Croatian diaspora into concrete projects, production and stable employment.

At the same time, it strengthens the connection between Croatia and its global business community, creating the foundations for sustainable economic development and the return of people.
